FINAL SCRIPT

RIGMAROLE SCRIPT As my final outcome will have a narration and minimal/ no dialogue in the film I chose to write a monologue. This includes a lengthy summarisation of the word 'Rigmarole' - the name of my film, and some smaller aspects of the main characters life in the beginning of the short film. Overall this monologue, unedited and not dragged out is three minutes long. Before writing my final script, the first step had been to research original stories and also look back at the short films studied, specifically arrival with its monologue/ narration over the shots of her sitting in a cafe. FILM SYNOPSIS

PLOT SYNOPSIS - RIGMAROLE The short film begins with a young man watching documentaries and playing video games, whilst a narration is voiced over. Then a montage of clips which highlights how the man views the world and society as a whole, by having a Margaret Thatcher voiceover it suggests a much more negative and pessimistic view of the world. The next 'act' shows how a young woman is kidnapped, lulled in by the man asking about a lost dog, she is then kidnapped and it is left unclear what happens to her next. The final 'act' highlights how the young man has grown up and is driving which shows how he still has not been caught, until the blue lights at the end signify how he had finally been caught, although his cynical smile at the end may suggest otherwise to some. These images show how the film has three separate acts, with the second being the longest of the three.
