VLADIMIR PROPP

Propp believed hat there wear 7 main/typical character types in every film and 31 narrative functions that follow a simple plot. Propp argued that stories are character driven and that plots develop from the decisions and actions of characters and how they function in a story. As when creating the short movie, I will have to create a narrative and will likely fall for a certain simple plot, depending on a preferred genre (discussed on the genre post).
He claimed characters could be classified into certain roles that progress a story. These roles are: The Villain (struggles to stop the hero in their quest), The Donor (prepares the hero for their quest), The Helper (offers help to the hero in their quest, this is usually a sidekick), The Princess (person the hero marries, and who is often searched for during the quest), The False Hero (a character that initially appears as good but turns out to be evil), The Dispatcher (the person that sends the hero on their quest) and The Hero (the person on the quest through which the audience follows the narrative).
